A DENIZEN is an inhabitant or occupant of a particular place. A Waterfall Arts DENIZEN is a volunteer, private studio artist, teacher, public studio monitor, studio subscriber, podcast guest, artist in residence, staff member, or board member. ‘Homegrown: Denizen Exhibition’ showcases work created by the community of Waterfall Arts’ denizens since 2020.

The exhibition hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 5pm and Saturday, 11am – 3pm. Opening Reception is Friday, October 20, 5-7pm. Waterfall Arts, 256 High St., Belfast, Maine.

The exhibition features work by Westport Island book artist, Joelle Webber, who has spent 40 years collecting book arts techniques in college and workshop settings. At Mermaid Bindery, she binds books and boxes for others as well as writing, paper decorating, collage, calligraphy, pop-up and paper sculpting to illustrate her own artist books. Building on these creative techniques, she designs workshops for many different communities of makers.
