On Wiscasset Art Walk evening, the Maine Art Gallery is hosting a panel of four Maine artists discussing the various methods and approaches they use in printmaking. The Art Talk complements the gallery’s exhibit in the second floor gallery: Drawn to Maine: Contemporary Drawing and Printmaking. (June 13-July 21; Thurs-Sunday, 11-4 pm)
The audience will hear how each artist arrived at the medium which best expresses their interpretation and about the inspiration they find in the natural world around them.
The presenting artists are Joel LeVasseur of Damariscotta who works in gelatin, Sherrie York of Bristol working in wood and lino cuts, Judith Long of Brunswick, working in various mediums including etching, drypoint, monotypes, wood and linoleum block and silkscreen, and Kathleen W. Buchanan, colligrapher. The panel’s moderator is Deb Arter, artist and MAG board member.
